If you can find your way thru the cobwebs, we'll see what strange old things might be found in the attic.

The Attic

This package of old pictures was given to me by Edith E. Tull around 1994 and are mostly of Ellis family members. She identified the people as noted beneath their picture.
Joe Ellis
Elwood Ellis
Joe Ellis (in later years)
Josephus E. Ellis, Edward E. Ellis, William Ellis and Otis O. Ellis were sons of George Robert Ellis and Sara Emily (Collins) Ellis. It is assumed that the above Elwood Ellis is Edward E. Ellis. They are all brothers of Ernest C. Ellis.
Avery and Emma Ellis
Son and Daughter of Will Ellis
Otis Ellis
These are my grandparents, Clara and Ernest Ellis
Clara Elizabeth Ann (Coulbourn) Ellis
Ernest Collins Ellis

These are my great-grandparents, Hugh Albert and Lida Belle (Collins)Coulbourn. They are the parents of Clara Elizabeth Ann (Coulbourn) Ellis.

George Robert Ellis and Sara Emily (Collins) Ellis are in the back row. Other 5 people are unknown.
Sara Emily (Collins) Ellis

(called Emma)

The survey below is of the property near Reliance, Delaware where my grandparents, Ernest C. Ellis and his wife Clara Elizabeth Ann (Coulbourn) Ellis built their home.
(It is rather faded and difficult to read so click on the image to enlarge.)

This may look like an ordinary, garden-variety stone but it is a very special stone. For many years, it warmed the hands
of Ernest Ellis as he did his early-morning farm chores on cold Delaware mornings. He warmed it on top of the cook-stove
until it was very hot, then wrapped it and carried it with him in his pocket, warming first his left and then his right hand.

Here is an old piece of jewelry that has been passed down from the Coulbourn ancestors.

The pretty and unusual little pin was handed down to me from my Aunt Grace (Ellis) Nauman
with the notation "Aunt Nellie's pin - made from her parents hair." Aunt Nellie was Nellie Rae
(Coulbourn) Smith and was a sister of my grandmother (Clara Elizabeth Ann (Coulbourn) Ellis)
so her parents were also my grandmother's parents. (Click to enlarge)

These are my great-grandparents on my father's side of the family,
William Marshall and Sarah E.(West) Mears

The following three pages were scanned from a Mears family bible which originally belonged to William Burton Mears and his wife Carrie Aline (Workman) Mears and has been passed along and is now in the possession of Scott Mears.

If any of you family members out there have some o-l-d family pictures that you would like to contribute, I'll be happy to store and display them here in the attic.
